*** We are rescheduling to the weekend of April 12th-14th to avoid camping in the near freezing nights predicted in the weather forecast. ***

We play, we learn, we cook, we burn! Come join us for the 4th Collective Embers. Good food, good times, and a bunch of people excited to share skills and knowledge.

Bring your tent and camp out! Feel free to arrive on Friday to set up camp. Scheduled content begins Saturday.

Bring food to share and energy to make and do! Collective Embers is a free event thanks to all content and food being crowd sourced, so come ready to share and participate rather than spectate. By all bringing and sharing food everyone eats well.

Bring kids! This event is for all ages. We love when folks bring activities and workshops with kids in mind as well as content for adults.

This time around we are going to have more content scheduled in advance (fingers crossed).

We also have an optional form for you to tell us what food and fun you plan to bring.

If it’s going to pour rain we will postpone.

Like the Phoenix we rise from the embers NEW

Come and join us in learing new skills and enjoy music and food
by an open fire.

Workshops

This schedule is approximate and may very well be nonsense. It should give you a sense of what is happening when but is by no means set in stone. Love, Strings

Friday

1PM onward – A small (or perhaps medium) cluster of kids and adults will be here, getting a fire going, setting up, and hanging out. Y’all are welcome to arrive any time Friday. Come pitch your tent, help us set up shared infrastructure, go for a walk and see what’s blooming and how high the river be, sit and chat by the campfire.

6PM – campfire, potluck, chatting, music, camping out

Saturday

9AM – campfire, coffee, potluck breakfast

10AM-2PM – A selection of workshops and activities that are scheduled in advance. If you have an offering you would like us to schedule in, fill out the form here. As we schedule these they will be posted here.

2PM – The Collective Embers classic, all hands on deck workshop: Building flammable sculptures out of natural materials. We will create one or more small effigies to burn without using nails or wire, leaving minimal impact to the land.

4PM-7PM – Fire cooking micro food festival goes into full swing. We’ll get a couple of cook fires going. Whip out your ingredients and cookware and cook anything your heart desires. Maybe even team up with your friend to make a dish. Then share with everyone, taste everything, and celebrate the yums.

7PM – Sculptures get lit on fire! Party! Music! Fire spinning! Singing! Drums! Skits! Poetry! Dancing! Revelry! Etc.

Sunday

9AM – campfire, coffee, potluck breakfast

10AM-11:30AM – Arts and crafts learning and collaboration hours. Bring supplies and knowledge to share about anything art and craft related. Think clay, paint, fiber arts, wood carving, etc. We will set up stations on blankets for different materials and folks can choose where to hang out and craft.

11:30AM – Afternoon workshop planning time. We will get together and chat about who brought workshops and activities for the afternoon and figure out the sequence and locations for those.

12PM – Lunch. We’ll probably eat leftovers, or cook up things we didn’t get around to last night.

1PM-5PM – Crowd sourced workshops and activities. This content does not need to be scheduled in advance – bring something last minute or impulsive!

5PM onward – We have nothing else scheduled. Pack up earlier if you need to.

What kind of
content will
be shared?

Great question. Until folks sign up and/or show up we won’t know for sure. We will definitely have

  • Burnable sculpture building
  • Arts and crafts time with natural paints and fiber arts
  • (as folks sign up to lead workshops we will add them here)
